WIA offers a variety of services delivered by Multiple Agencies. One-stop
partner agencies include WIA - formerly JTPA (provided through Acadiana
Works, Inc.), Job Service, Community Action Agencies, Vocational Rehabilitation
and more) all at one location.
Services available at WIA One-Stop Centers (Acadiana One-Stop):
CORE SERVICES
- Assistance in establishing eligibility for Welfare-to-work activities.
- Job Search Assistance: The latest videos on the most up-to-date
job search techniques along with interview techniques proven to get
results quickly.
- Resume Writing
- Orientation to the One-Stop Center
- Initial assessment of skill levels, aptitudes and support services.
- Labor Market information
- Consumer Reports information and delivery system performance information.
- Information on other One-Stop partner services and support services.
Community Support Services: If you are in need of additional assistance
such as food stamps, AFDC, Transportation, Child Care, Housing, Etc,.
our community resource section, updated regularly, lists all agencies
throughout the parish which provide needed assistance.
- Information on filing UI claims.
- Information on Training Providers: The Career Center has complete
listings of all training institutions including technical colleges.
Universities with descriptions of courses, information on tuition
and duration of the training.
- Computer Assisted Information: Our computer section consists of
state of the art Pentium computers which will assist you in the following:
- Basic Skills Enhancement (Increases Reading and
Math levels quickly).
- Job Listings (Statewide and National).
- Aptitude Assessments (To find out what type of
employment suits you best).
INTENSIVE SERVICES *
- Comprehensive and specialized assessment.
- Development of individual training plan.
- Group counseling.
- Case management
TRAINING SERVICES *
- Occupational Skills Training: State of the art technical training
in a variety of demand occupations in two years or less through Louisiana
Technical Colleges. WIA pays a portion of tuition, books and supplies.
- Be trained and job ready in health-related, tractor-trailer
driving and other high demand occupations and no cost
to you.
- WIA provides training in custodial skills for disabled
individuals.
- On-the-Job Training (O.J.T.) - Tired of answering job ads which
require years of experience? No experience is necessary with O.J.T.
WIA along with private employers strive to increase employment opportunities
for the economically disadvantaged and the dislocated worker population.
- Skill Upgrading and retraining.
- Entrepreneurial Training.
- Job Readiness Training.
